Uveitis
Uveitis is inflammation inside the eye that can develop quickly and may lead to vision loss without treatment.
Common symptoms
Eye redness, pain, light sensitivity, blurred vision, and floating spots in vision.
Description
Uveitis refers to inflammation of the uvea and nearby eye structures. It can affect one or both eyes and may be linked to infections, autoimmune conditions, or occur without a clear cause.
Symptoms often appear suddenly and can become severe over a short period. Because inflammation inside the eye can damage sensitive tissues, early diagnosis is important.
Treatment usually includes steroid eye drops, tablets, or injections, sometimes alongside medicines that target the underlying immune response. People with uveitis often need regular follow-up to monitor recurrence and complications.
